Behind These Walls - Tullamore Gaol Projected Illuminations

‘We walk past buildings that have great history, but give little thought to the human stories tied up in them . These stories connect us to our town and to our past. Tullamore Gaol housed Land Leaguers and Suffragettes and was where the last woman was hanged under British Rule. It was burned down and rose again as Salts, Tullamore Yarns, the largest employee in town for over 30 years. This history will be brought to life through a spectacular audio visual projection that animates the architecture of the imposing gateway.’ Caroline Conway

These fascinating historically significant images and stories of the people who experienced life ‘Behind These Walls’ will be projected onto the front of the Tullamore Jail entrance on both evenings of Friday, February 25th and Saturday, February 26th from between 7:30-10pm. Presenting you with this exciting work is Caroline Conway, a renowned artist who has been providing significantly focused arts strands of collaborative, multi-disciplinary projects in non- traditional art spaces and the public realm for over 20 years in County Offaly. This is a free, all ages event, but spaces limited within the in the optimal viewing area inside the Jail Gate and main driveway. The images of course can also be viewed at your leisure from Cormac Street.

Please note that there is no official parking for this event, it is walk-up. However if you are driving to get to the event, parking is available behind Kilcruttin Park at Spollenstown Road entrance, at Lloyd Town Park and also beside Scoile Mhuire on R443.
