200 Entente Florale visitors coming to Tullamore in September
24th July 2018
200 visitors from around Europe are expected in Tullamore next September, for the final of the Entente Florale competition.
Tullamore has been chosen to host the event which will run from September 20 to 22.
Representatives from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands and Slovenia will be in town for the occasion.
The decision to hold the final here, came after Entente Florale judges awarded Tullamore a gold medal in the 2016 competition. A considerable effort was made to have the town looking its best and the judges were impressed enough to bring the final here.
The formal handover ceremony to Tullamore took place at Podcetrtek, Slovenia last year.
Tullamore was represented by the Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District, Councillor Declan Harvey.
The Entente Florale competition is an international competition and is designed to promote a greener and more pleasant environment in European towns and villages.
Through the competition local authorities, private bodies and individuals are encouraged to cooperate in beautifying their towns and villages thereby improving the quality of life for inhabitants and visitors.
