Tullamore Welcomes Chinese Delegation

Cllr. Tony McCormack through Barry Cowen TD's office welcomed a delegation form Kunming Municipal People's Government. Kunming is a city of 6 million people and is capital of the Yunnan Provence which boasts a population of 65 million. Cllr McCormack said "Last weeks mission was facilitated by Joanne Laven of Connect China. Connect China is a company that facilitate business connections between Ireland and China. Kunming is the City Of Health in China and this trip was to form connections with the health care facilities we have here in Tullamore and also our medical device companies already located here".

"With our central location, our great quality of life, our proven track record of FDI's doing business here and our dedicated workforce, we are an ideal location for a Chinese health company to set up here and use Tullamore as a base to do business with the rest of Europe" McCormack also commented.

The delegation was welcomed to Tullamore with a special welcome from the Municipal Authority of Tullamore, where the Vice Mayor Wang Jianying was presented with a specially designed scroll by Cathaoirleach Cllr. Declan Harvey. The group then went on a tour of Tullamore with Cllr McCormack and Dominic Doheney, Flan Group, having stops at Charleville Castle, The King Tree,Tullamore Harriers, BNM O'Connor Park, Midland Regional Hospital, the refurbished Scott Building, IDA Business Park and finished off with dinner sponsored by the Tullamore Court Hotel.
